For Immediate Release:

Four Old Time Mississippi String bands will be playing at Hal & Mals, Thursday, April 9th, 2009 from 8 p.m to 11 p.m.

The newly formed Hot Tamales featuring the talents of six women with a traditional repertoire that is completely southern is not to be missed.

Bridging the Gap will offer melody and harmony in a quartet setting. Fiddle, lap dulcimer, guitar, mandolin and banjo uke.

The Dead Fiddlers Collective comes alive with the outstanding fiddle of Kate Morgan, in a self assured driving rhythm and arching harmonics, balanced with adroit clawhammer banjo from professor McAllister.

Hired Man’s Horse, will plow yo’ field if you got one. If not, watch how its done, by the scholars of Old Time Music laboring at their chores. An unmatched rhythm section plowing it up, with dual melody lines planted with the clawhammer banjo of Johhny Rawls and the undeniable prowess of fiddler Tim Avalon.

Please join us to raise money for the Mississippi Fiddlers Association’s annual Great Big Yam Potatoes Gathering and Fiddle Contest, to held May 15th thru the 17th at Historic Jefferson College in Washington Mississippi, located just outside of Natchez, Mississippi on highway 61.
